I swapped out my old HD DVR from Time Warner on Friday afternoon and now it is Sunday evening and the "new" box is already failing. It is a Scientific Atlanta box. I wanted to swap out for a new Samsung box which I have heard is a lot better, but my guess is that I got a bad box which another customer returned due to a bad hard drive.

The video is choppy and pixelated. The audio is broken up and distorted. It is completely unwatchable. This is the power of me? No, this is the poor quality you can expect from Time Warner.

Please spread the word about this video on Facebook and Twitter. Time Warner needs to know that their low level of quality and customer support is not acceptable. This has to stop.

And if you are just as tired as me, turn off the cable and just watch your shows on Hulu.com. There is no need to manage your recordings. Just go watch what you want, when you choose. It works great. I am stuck in a contract for another year so I have to suffer through this horrible service. Do not get stuck like me.

  • @retro80stv I have seen this with live TV as well as recorded shows. It does seem to be a problem with the hard drive. Either way, it is all bad service from Time Warner.

  • Siganl Issue! ..... easily fixed by a TWC technician.

  • i had this problem once because i was using bad quality coax cables and too many splitters. Once a technician came too balance the signal, it all came back to normal.

  • @karmessi It would kinda help IF THEY USED A MOTOROLA HEADEND TOO

    so essentially, he's stuck.

  • i just got a samsung 320 GB yesterday and the memory is already %95 Full..,

they need to have a least 1TB boxes for me to be somewhat satisfied

  • scientific atlanta suck, you should get a motorola box =P

plus they are much easier to troubleshoot =P i work at cust service, when i get a cust who has a sa i knwo that 9/10 i won't be able to fix it, with the motorola boxes i just sent a couple of signals and problem solved XD

  • Try getting a tech to come out.

It's not the box - it's the signal to the box coming from TW.

  • I have one if these coming Monday morning, so I'm checking out any info I can find.

As a previous TiVo owner, I can tell you that hard drive issues cause distortions like this. It didn't happen often with my refurb unit, but it did happen. Hope your luck improves, and that I don't get a lemon.
