  • are these the things roaming all over florida?

  • @honeybee7700 Animal Planet would have you believe so! I understand there are a small number of invasive nile monitor lizards in FL, but not many. The ones you see on the Animal Planet episodes are staged. They're not really "wild monitors", they are just pets that the crew followed around with cameras for a couple days to create footage to tell their story. And if they can't find any real "wild" monitors to film, and they have to use staged footage with captives, you have to wonder...

  • do they get along with other pets like dogs then because i really want 1 but i carnt if its gonna fight with the dog

  • @xxxxxcuterobynxxxx No they usually do not. Larry is a very special exception to the rule. Please don't count on taking home a nile monitor and having him turn out like Larry.

  • That is amazing, what you can do, with Larry! Mine was handlable the first yr. I got him back in 2003; Gradually he got nasty; when he got to about 16 ", Teddy (my, Nile) was not handlable ; He started biting when you try to handle him; so, I put him in a enclosure that is 6 ft long, by four ft wide, and four ft high; He has a large shelf on one end about three feet high from the ground; for basking; a big tub on the other end with water; at seven yrs old, he is content and healthy; 4 foot.

  • @nilegator Thanks for sharing. Larry amazing me every day!

My advice is no. In a few years you will be out of high school and possibly moving away to college or finding your own place to live. It is not an easy time to have a 4-5 year old nile monitor and there are not a lot of great homes willing to take them. There are also very few colleges or apartments that will let you move in with giant lizards the size of niles. You should really have a long term plan so your nile doesn't end up at a rescue.

  • Haha "Larry the lizzard" cool and funny video, awesome Nile monitor

  • great video. very funny

  • At 1:56. THAT CAT IS THE SAME AS MINE!!!!! He Is Called Hector.

  • That's incredible!. Thanks for sharing. I've had Savannahs, Asian Water and Ornate Nile monitors. No matter how hard I worked, I could never get the Ornate to tame down. I had to watch it closely every time I got in the cage. After developing infections from bites a few times, I finally gave him up. The savannahs and water monitors was like handling a dog or cat...or even Larry here. Completely trustworthy.

  • why do monitors have to get so big :(

  • TAME!!!!!!!!! I can not beleave my eyes. I have a standerd nile and he don't run anymore. He fights its gonna be a slow process to get him as tame as this one lol.

  • RUGBY FOR THE WIN!!!!
