This is a common head louse. The video was taken with a USB microscope with the louse stuck to piece of clear tape to keep it from moving. It was lit from above.

  • Just an FYI, we were able to successfully treat our children's lice with once weekly mayonnaise treatments for three weeks. As a physician, I was reluctant to use insecticides that often don't work anyway. The mayonnaise smothers the lice and makes the nits easier to comb out. Once a week is all you need because it takes 10 days for newly hatched eggs to reach maturity. Relief from itching is instantaneous and the treatment is totally safe. It should be recommended more often, IMO.
