she indeed was more beautiful than both Jacqueline and Lee,and was intellectually more astute.it was poverty that led to her breakdown as well as that of her mother.Both were raised as gentlewomen,and were not raised to work.They found themselves cast adrift when Phelan Beale abandoned his family..

i know. she did such a wonderful job in this movie. i cried when i saw this movie in 09. it was repeated on HBO and it became a thing for me to watch Grey Gardens every week. very emotional movie for me., thumbs up for this movie. yes i agree
