@nessie96 Many feel this way about Michelle Kwan.

@carljj22 I wonder if she is a grandma now?I saw her in NC at a ice rink at the mall near my old job. This was in the spring of 1976.She was pregnant with her 1st son and judging a small ice show and on a promotional tour for the Easter Seals. She had to give up skating in part coz of her allergies and sports induced asthma. She was tired of competiting too.I wonder if any of her 5 sons have any skating talent? Many children of gold medals don't or chose another sport.

The joy in her skating brings tears to my eyes. She really was a flying swan. @JeffsgirlDiane, I totally agree with you. Also recall the short program was added after 1972 - so skaters did figures, SP & LP - and back then, both the SP & LP were a little longer than they are today. Skating is far less interesting today, although Yu Na Kim, Johnny Weir & a few others are exceptions.

Skaters of this time were more "complete" skaters because they had to do compulsory figures as part of their competition. Compulsories were boring and weird, but you had to master the basics to do well in them - when they were eliminated, skating became a jump-fest.

to me, this is better than all the figure skating performances today. this girl seems truly happy and at home on the ice and her performance doesn't seem stiff, but graceful and flowing

She lives in northern Virginia. One of her sons went to the Naval Academy. As I understand it, she gave up skating to be a full time mom. God Bless her!

@HZW02461 I have read she moves a lot.Not sure where she is living now tho?I did see something online a few years ago that she may be in Colorado?

It's almost 40 years ago, but I still remember her then current address in Illinois! (not an email address ;)

i met her today( :
The greatest skater to never win an Olympic gold medal or world championship...she was the epitome of grace and style...if she'd been competing under today's rules she would have won a slew of titles...she has always been my favorite skater of all time. All of the great skaters have emulated her style and moves.
