When Desi Arnaz was introduced as the guest host for this episode of SNL, he got maybe the longest standing ovation in the history of that show. It brought tears to my eyes.

Originally telecast on February 21, 1976 (and I saw it then!). Desi's closing number was, of course,"Babalu", with everyone doing a wild conga around Studio 8-H- right into the closing credits...

By god, he still had it! Charming and nostalgic.
By the way..."Babaloo" is one of several saints
in the Cuban religion of Santeria (a black offshoot
of Catholicism). The Cubans in Cuba are wholly
unaware of the Ricky Ricardo, Babalu phenomenon.
However, when they're shown an episode or two
they think it's hysterical. Especially when Ricky gets
mad!

I used to have the VHS tape but not anymore. I really like the one Desi Arnaz says goodnight everybody. Thanks for downloading a SNL clip of Desi Arnaz. He was very talent.

And oh ya, that is Desi jr playing conga's behind him, looking just like him. And in the movie Mambo Kings with Anotonio Bandaras and Antonio Bandaras, Desi jr plays his father. Check it out.
