*When they came within sight of the now deserted park, Joe pulled Brynn by the hand, running toward the swings. Upon reaching them, they both sat down and drifted slowly back and forth. Swinging and laughing, they chatted until the sun started to descend towards the top of the trees surrounding the park. Finally, they looked up and realized that they needed to get home.*
JOE: *Reluctantly looking up.* Ugh, I guess it's time to go home.
BRYNN: *Also reluctant.* If we have to. [She gets an idea.] But first... [She sprints away towards the empty soccer field] ...You'll have to catch me!
*Joe jumps up and runs after Brynn, almost catching her, but she dodges out of his reach. However, when she tries to make another escape, she turns her ankle and falls into the grass, gasping in pain.*
JOE: I'll get you now...What happened?
BRYNN: *Out of breath and clearly in pain, holding her ankle.* I. Fell. OW! Twisted. My. Ankle...
JOE: *Running over and kneeling beside her as she sits in the grass.* Are you okay? Oh my gosh, Brynn. Are you alright? I'm so sorry...
BRYNN: It's not your fault. I just fell. But... *She tries to stand and put weight on her ankle. She ends up falling backward, and Joe catches her.* ...I'm not sure how well I can walk.
JOE: It's okay. I'll help you. That ankle looks bad. Look at how swollen it is already! Maybe we should have Kevin bring you to that walk in clinic in town...
BRYNN: No, it's okay. I definitely don't want to see a doctor. [She tries to stand again, and Joe catches her for the second time.]
JOE: Clearly, you should.
*Joe lowers her back down as she grimaces in pain.*
JOE: I'll call Kevin.
*He lays her on the grass as he pulls out his cell phone, presses the number 4 on his speed dial, and waits for Kevin to answer. When he does, Joe quickly tells Kevin what happened, and asks him to come bring him and Brynn to the clinic. Kevin agrees, and says that he will be there in a few minutes. Joe leans back down to Brynn, who is feeling her ankle and wincing.*
JOE: Brynn, just don't touch it. It'll be fine. I'll go with you to the doctor, and he'll fix it. Just leave your ankle alone.
BRYNN: *Looking up at him curiously.* The clinic isnt too close to here, you don't have to come, if you don't want to.
JOE: I do want to!
BRYNN: *Hesitating.* Don't take this the wrong way, I am glad that you want to help, but why? You could just drop me off at my house and let my mom take me, if you wanted to leave.
JOE: *Simply.* Why would I do that? I just hate seeing you hurt.
*Brynn looks at him for a moment, and then smiles. He starts to smile back, but then his face hardens into a determined expression. Brynn looks curiously at him for a moment. He is kneeling beside Brynn, who is still laying on her back in the grass, propped up on her elbows. But before Brynn can ask what's wrong, Joe leans forward and gently kisses her. She is so surprised at first that she doesn't move, but regains the ability to react almost instantly. She sits up slowly and leans toward Joe, who wraps his arms around her back and brings her closer. She places her arms around his neck, locking them in his cute, one-of-a-kind "Joe-hawk" hair. Joe pulls her onto his lap, still kissing her, but being careful not to bump her ankle. Pulling away so that his lips barely brush hers, he whispers...*
JOE: *Whispering.* Do you mind?
*Joe can feel her smile against his lips.*
BRYNN: Does it seem like I mind?
*Still smiling, she begins to kiss him again. Brynn can not think of a better place to be as they sit there, kissing, with the sunset throwing beautiful colors dancing across the ground.*
*Just then, they were interrupted by Joe's cell phone ringing. Frustrated, Joe flips it open.*
JOE: Hey Kev. Yeah, we're ready. Okay. Bye.
*Joe looks back at Brynn.*
JOE: Kevin says he's right around the corner, and that we should meet him in the parking lot.
*Brynn looks slightly disappointed, but tries to stand up, forgetting about her ankle momentarily. She stumbles, and Joe catches her.*
JOE: Woah, that's three times now. You gotta be more careful. *He catches sight of her frustrated expression and smiles at her.* Hey, don't worry, we will get to finish what we started after you get your ankle checked out. I'm not going anywhere.
*Brynn grins at him and kisses his cheek quickly as Kevin pulls the car up. Joe swings Brynn into his arms and carries her to the car, depositing her gently in the backseat. Then, instead of getting into the empty front seat with Kevin, he hops in next to Brynn and puts his arm around her. Smiling contentedly, she leans back into his shoulder as they drive to the doctor's clinic.*
