Another great tune from Joe Bonamassa's Ballad Of John Henry CD. "Jockey Full Of Bourbon"
A very nice arrangement and worth a good listen. This song really grows on you the more you hear it.

  • Another fantastic song from Joe Bonamassa. If you're in Austin, TX March 24th join me at the concert at The Paramount Theater. Should be an awesome show. Looking forward to it.

  • An interesting cover, y'all should note that Joe is covering a Tom Waits' song here, highly recommend hearing Tom play it....

  • 1 million times better version than Tom Waits' original. Absolutely nothing wrong with Toms composition but I really like Joes' sleazy blues tone that he's got going on here. Toms composition and lyrics A+. Joes feeling and blues A+.

  • I'm a big-time JB fan. I like this cover, and that Joe took it in a new direction. However, to say it's "a million times better" than Tom's original version is just plain nuts. This is a case where the original cannot be topped, ever. It's like saying that someone could do a better cover of "Satisfaction" than the Stones originally did. Yeah, good luck on that!

  • got to disagree with uglybob....can't compare apples & oranges...this is certainly an excellent cover but Joe's version doesnt have Tom's soul...both great tho & will probably go out & buy this

  • @grubber1985 The only thing that makes him sound like John Mayer is the fact that he actually knows how to sing and sings all the time. It's the one thing I don't like about Joe. I wish I would hear his normal voice instead of his beyond pristine singing voice. His guitar playing destroys Mayer and most modern guitarists though.

A lot of people think he's one dimensional, but I don't hear verbatim licks from Eric Johnson, Paul Kossoff, Gatton, or Clapton when Joe is playing. I hear Joe.

  • @unitedstatesofbeer1 if you play an instrument you practically a musician and saying derek trucks isnt a musician thats just fucked up so can you please shut up everyone complains about the new musicans like joe and complains that there is no good music anymore so why pick on, joe you sort of people should just listen to nothing cause you just hate everything so please go away your boring as shit.

  • @unitedstatesofbeer1 I agree mate. No doubting that Joe is a talented guy, but he still sounds like John Mayer, and that says it all really. This version sounds like a bad 'New' Black Keys track.

  • @unitedstatesofbeer1 like your comment..

  • Take it from a huge fan of Tom's. This cover is the only cover of his stuff I've ever heard that was better than the original. It is very good.

  • @jaramillosergioa metete el dedo.

  • mediocre at best. kudos for the effort though.......I guess I base this opinion on the fact that I have been listening to, singing, and playing Blues, exclusively for over 30 years. And also I happen to be fan of Tom Waits.

  • @unitedstatesofbeer1 You know, you're entitled to your opinion, just as we all are. But your last sentence was entirely unnecessary...and it's no way to talk to a lady. Don't be such a boor.
