just watched the nets (my favorite team) get pounded by the spurs tonight. They are terrible at defending the pick and roll and it showed tonight. Now I am here watching this video because I know it can't be that hard to defend it. Maybe Carlesimo could learn from Izzo smh.

you can touch but not push. as long as you do not protrude in the screeners space (cylinder) you are free to make contact. the logic behind jamming is to not give the chance to the screener, to make your teammate go way round to find his player, by pushing you in his trajectory. so the proper phrasing might be "stand your ground", not "push". if you push, i think under any circumstances, you're right, you're being illegal.

just remember that if a maker is experienced enough to read the reaction of the defence, quickly enough, there are practically INNUMERABLE ways to make sure your p'n'r is money every time (i.e. i was able to do that by 15, against guys of really high level; and i was not that good :P ). it only takes an experienced or well trained maker, to make this play REALLY hard to defend...

actually you use that against play makers who did not set the p'n'r properly. that means that at least one weak side player is actively looking to block the roll-in of the screener. that's why tom says at some point that we have to keep in mind the maker might spot the long pass in the corner. this guy's defender stands close to the mid-line for the quick block of the roll-in if smth goes bad. but generally, yes, "up and over" is a risky p'n'r-situation resolution.

the "up and over" at 3:20 is bad. the screener get the ball from the ball handler and run in cause no one guards him.
