This is my completed, rebound submission for the Sketchbook project 2010. I'm so thrilled to be participating. My sketchbook, along with many other artists' works will be touring the USA starting out in The Brooklyn Library.

  • Hi Bethany,

I actually built my sketchbook myself using 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper. You could probably rip off the cover then sew on another. There are lots of tutorials on youtube on how to sew a book together!

Oh, I just thought of another idea, you could gesso the cover so it was smooth and pristinely white then you could draw on it!

    Good luck

  • Love your ink works :)

  • @wvhoblol Thanks so much, it means a lot to hear!

  • I just want to say your work takes my breath away. I would strongly suggest you design papers for one of the scrapbook paper companies. A few of your pages remind me of Tim Coffey's papers designed for K & Company. Also he designs for calendars among other things. I'd just send/email this video. Depends on how prolific you are but really, these could definitely be amazing papers for the "world" to use in their creative works.

  • @westernkate Wow, Kate, thank you! I'm bowled over with your kind comment. Really, thanks!

    Best,

    Jenn

  • Oh my god. This is simply beautiful. I don't even have words for it! This has inspired me so much! What a beautiful person. Quick question- Where did you get your sketchbook from?

  • @beautybaby221 Hi, I actually made it myself. I measured out pages to the size specifications, 7.25x5.25" so one double page folded in half was 7.25x10.5". I paint in watercolor, so I used Arches 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. When I finished all the pages, I folded them, arranged them in sequence then sewed (book binding made easy can be found on the web and in youtube, lol) them together using book binding thread. Tada, a watercolor sketchbook! Hope this helps.

    ~Jenn
