John Prine is a great singer/songwriter, but not really underrated, at least not by the people in the industry. Johnny Cash, Kris Kristopherson, Willy Nelson et al give him credit as the best. Kristopherson once said "he is so good, we are going to have to break his fingers." He does in song what my father tried to convince me to do in life. Plant your feet, look them in the eye, and tell the truth.

Agreed. I'm just discovering (re-discovering? He was probably there in the background forgotten somewhere, but Youtube has brought him to the foreground for me ) him and this song, and "Hello in there" are sheer genius.
