Rotary Downs is an indie rock/psychedelic pop band from New Orleans, Louisiana. NPR chose the band as its #2 best unknown American band in 2007 for the album Chained to the Chariot. The band's most recent release--Cracked Maps & Blue Reports--is its tightest and most rocking album to date. Filter Magazine called it "perfectly New Orleanian: both high and low, in and out, joyous and mournful." The song "Bullet on a String" is about a teenager heading off to "a foreign trap".
