@NateDaDrummer @plegentil not just any real drummer, but any real musician. It, in John Petrucci's words, "takes the slop out of your playing". For learning type of stuff, you would be up the creek without a metronome.

@plegentil Any real drummer knows that playing with a metronome is beneficial no matter how good, bad, experienced, or inexperienced you are, especially when playing a solo because its not hard to lose your timing.

i remember watching this when i first started drumming 3 years ago and having no clue what was happening. now i have a sense of what is going on, i may not be able to play it, but i know what i have to do to get there.
