After a lot of research, I was able to verify the USB3 Port on this laptop will run at the required speed to support this laptop. Typically most laptops and a fair chunk of desktops will run at a reduced speed to not allow this card to work.

To have a test object to capture from, I used the iPad2's HDMI connector cable. This can output at 1080p and makes a great device for watching video. It's a powerhouse!

Actual uncompressed capture wont likely be possible due to no onboard raid, however you have enough power with this laptop to do live encoding as needed. Alternatively, connect a raid to it and capture away.

Naturally this will let you be able to capture games and other HDMI stuff like computers as well. Great potential for this device that I'm looking forward to using.

I will be documenting my progress with this laptop, and using it for capturing video on both youtube and my blog at http://blog.brettjames.au.com/
