You never want to have pitch shifting going on AFTER all of your effects, you'd always want your Whammy going into the amp's input as the first pedal in your chain no matter what.

hey mine had the same problem very firm pedal action. i pulled mine apart and loosened slightly the bolt which the pedal pivots on.

Might need to loosen the treadle with an allen wrench.
