world surfing contest 1968 rincon' PR (pre-contest surfing)

the 1968 world surfing contest held in rincon PR with music by the supertones recorded live in rincon 2008 it was nice while it lasted,rincon is now filled with condo's bad vides and the big sandy beach's have all but wash away because of a few greedy people who could care less about nature and protecting the coast line.the waves still come but so have the crowds.with crys of go home gringo and gang violence in the line up.like 4 guys beating up one kid because he just happens to be white and is surfing well that day.so much for the good surf vibes of 60's peace love and understanding make way for the new kooks of the me surf generation good luck guys you're going to need it

This was still the longboard era. Boards lost two feet of length in '68. Thanks to George Greenough whom Nat Young, Bob McTavish and Wayne Lynch were studying. Great music.

That is some truley incredable footage! Is it available on DVD? The first time I ever surfed Rincon - about 1960 I caught a big wave about hallf way out. Still remember it as one of my best rides EVER!! I live in Sweden now - yeap we surf here! (Check out my channel) But was just in Norht Shore Oahu for the las htree months. So us old dudes are still stoked and keeping the posative vibe going as much as posable.. Stayt Stoked!! //Gaz

Y'all should've seen it in '58 and earlier....surfing was already too crowded by '68 and Endless Summer destroyed it once and for all. Now, a swell lasts three days instead of two weks.
