"The social order as we know it is created out of ideas, either directly or as a systemic consequence. In other words somebody somewhere did something which generated a group interest.

Once a given set of ideas are intrusted by a large enough group of people it becomes an institution And once that institution is made dominant, while existing for a certain period of time, that institution can then be considered an establishment.

Institutional establishments are simply social traditions given the illusion of permanence. In turn, the more established they become the more cultural influence they tend to have on us. Including our values and hence our identities and perspectives.

While there is always a debate about genetics and environmental influence. Its very easy to understand in the context of values; every intellectual concept that each one of us finds merit with is the result of a cultural information influence.

The environment is a self perpetuation programing process and just like designing a software program for your computer each human being is advertently and inadvertently programed into their world view. Every word you know has been taught to you one way or another and thus every concept and belief you have is a result of this same influence.

Jacque Fresco once asked me, "how much of you is you?" Then answer of course is kind of a paradox. For either nothing is me or everything is me when it comes to the information i understand and act upon.

Information is a serial process, meaning the only way a human being can come up with any idea is through taking in dependent information that allows that idea to be realized."

  • @pianomist I think they're just trying to lead easily influenced people into thinking "oh, 20 people dislike this. Maybe I should too to fit in somehow". Whether it's bots, user(s) with multiple accounts who subscribe to these channels with the sole intention of "dislike stalking" (or whatever) or just a bunch of people who take issue with the pure sense of the content, I don't know. Still it's OK. They are welcome to think what they want. They only inhibit themselves at the end of the day.

  • The word is 'whet'; not 'wet'...

  • @occupyknowledge I think what your missing is this: yes you can choose to DO what you want, but WHAT you want isn't necissarily up to you. This video is saying that with the amount of weight these establishments have on our lives, they could shape our desires before were even old enough to know. They build us, then all of our choices are from within who they made us. But yeah, good thing for things like zeitgeist to help pull us out of it!

  • Thank you Zeitgeist for giving us this valueable information! and you Uploader, thanks!

  • 20 people don't like arguments that can't be refuted...

  • well done.

  • @occupyknowledge This is true to an extent but you can only choose from the options available to you. You can't choose to read in a language you don't understand. Politically you can only choose from those who can afford to run for election. You can only choose from the TV channels available to you, and soon you'll only be able to choose website that aren't banned or crippled by SOPA (if you're in the USA).

  • I think this video takes one thing out of the equation - CHOICE.

Yesterday I chose to read a bit in my "walden" book of Thoreau instead of going to drink bear at a lame party. Now it is true that the words written by Thoreau influence and change who I am as stated in the video. But I chose to get them to influence me by reading it instead of going to a lame party... thoreau also one day decided to write his book instead of drinking beer at a lame party. Our decisions make us who we are!

  • It wouldn't surprise me if there genuinely is dislike for this video. A lot of people can't wrap their minds and specifically their hearts around what TZM advocates. It's completely bizarre to most people to put others (especially people that don't even exist yet) ahead of their own personal needs and wants of today.

I've still never once yet debated any true free market capitalist, socialist, communist, naturalist etc and had them defeat the underlying structure of TZM which is Sustainability

  • The "current" just carries most people,, No Oars, No Navigating, just being Carried along. A Great Line from Jaws,, "why don't we start leading the shark back to shore instead of Him leading us out to sea?"

  • Sweet
