I am very happy to see such a strong woman holding to her own ideals. I myself have lost family, friends, and potential friends because of my Atheism. But I wouldn't go back to that life of ignorance just to keep them. Not now, not ever.

I am agnostic. Once my Mom introduced me to a real on point gentlemen whom I liked and liked me immediately. After a lengthy conversation he found out I was agnostic and he never called me again. That actually made me more defiant in my belief. Whatever your ideas are, have them! Most of the people judging you don't live righteous anyway so to hell with them.

I'm fortunate enough to love in Europe where Atheism is widely accepted, you still get a few idiots that think you have to believe in something for your life to have meaning (irrespective of whether it is true). Congratulations on being so open about your atheism, the more of us are open about our lack of belief, the more visible we are and others are encouraged to be more open about not believing. In Europe we have openly Atheist politicians, TV stars, and Journalists. Someday the USA will.

@Apanage21 Oh man, you're so right. For instance the Nobel Prize is more than 100 yrs now. I can count on my 10 fingers the # of black/Afro winners of the prize; in fact the most Nobel prizes that'd been given to people of African descent were for peace, 1 for economics and 3 for literature. There're 6 categories. Per capita, there're more churches in the ghettos than affluent neighborhoods.
