  • what happens if my grains have developed a kind of web like film on them? at one time they were purely translucent, but now they have this other feature. any ideas?

  • Thanks for the good advise, "some peoples kitchens just didn't have the right environment". It took you 3:01 minutes to tell us that? You are an IDIOT!!! You have no right to pretend to be the spokes person for kefir grains. How about giving some real advise like ideal temperature required to grow kefir grains. If you give them water, sugar, the right temperature and darkness, they will grow anywhere! You need to loose some weight before you give advise to others on health.

  • Really? Kitchen???

  • Try using 1/4 cup of sugar for 1/2 cup of water grains to about a quart/liter of water...

  • A while ago, mine seemed to slow down and not multiply any more, I was using a good bottled water that was enhanced with minerals and had been do really well. Somewhere I had read, that if you used filtered water that removed all your minerals that you should/could, add some eggshell, seems the grains had a need/requirement for calcium. Remembering this, I added just a half-shell to my quart batch and 'viola' suddenly my grains are doubling in volume...amazing!

  • and wats the right environment for them too grow?i have resive mine like 2 weeks ago they always bubbling i use them and they are tiny grains and i want them to grow so i can give to my family some of them.another question if i use to much sugar with them will they die?or how much sugar for the kefir is good.

    thanx :)
