A flyfishing adventure for yellowfish trip to the tidal river just below the Gariep damwall with Ivan and Pierre De Villiers. One minute you stand waist deep in the water and the next a wall of water rushes down as the sluices are opened for the Escom power plants at the wall. Indeed a dangerous place if you dont go with someone like Ivan that knows the rithm or should I say try to understand the schedule as they never kept to the schedule during our outing. Last year a few children actually died as a result of this. The fish has sort of accustomed to this tidal system with definite behavioural paterns when the water rise and drop.

Great Video Catfish Joe! I have a small video of my own in this same spot from Jan 2008 - This is truly one of the best yellowfishing spots in SA. Ivan is not only a wonderful soul but he's a fantastic host who made my wife and I fall in love with his little "treasure cove" of a spot there on the orange river.
