This is an awesome script. An Australian Epic! And ode to the ANZAC's that has not been made here in this country before, not like this on a grand scale. The personable characters made me feel part of the war. I was moved by this script. This should be made into a film. Well Done. What a beautifully told story with pathos, humour, action, friendship and the definitive Anzac spirit. Thankyou for the experience I was deeply moved.

  • Done & Dusted Filmed in Townsville!

  • No sir, wrong movie - that was Beneath Hill 60.

We are making in-roads with this script though, which is much more high concept then the previeously mentioned film.

  • Hey guys, great film. Just wanted to let you know that the 34th Battalion never made it to the Western Front until 1917. Its first battle was at Messines, Belgium, which I think would make a far more interesting concept for a film.

  • The 34th battalion arrived at the line in November 1916 and was there for the worst winter of 1916-1917. You are right that thier first battle was Messines which is featured alot in our script as well as the 12th of october 1917 where a Captain in the battalion won a VC.

  • Cool. Was doing a tad of research on my G.Uncle, Lt. Henry Thomas Britton VC (34th) when I came across this. He joined up as a digger, promoted in the field, got the MC for knocking off two machine guns and pulling in wounded, then got plugged with some shrapnel while showing some yanks the lines, and later died of his wounds. Tuff lad.

  • hey nice vid, can anybody tell me where the photo at 0:32 was taken????

  • What about the 33rd Battalion?

  • @Nomes1971 Makes me wonder if my Grandfather fought together

  • My Grandfather was in the 34th Battalion and then later on is the 54th Battalion. Can read about him on my Flickr page.

  • My GG-Uncle was in the 34th Battalion....he returned home, but did not live too long due to the after affects of Gas Poisoning..... :(

  • haha they just joined Austria (their allies) against Serbia. than France with it's "triple entente " alliance with Russia and UK declared war to Germany.....

note that France secretly gave weapons and ammo to Serbia before officially being in the war so this is to me dirtyer than what Germany did....

moreover France wanted to take back " l'Alsace-Lorraine "wich they lost during the franco-prussian war.

although I am not German or Austrian I'm just OBJECTIVE !!!
