Japan's newly born one-month-old panda twins were first introduced to the world on Friday.

The twin stars at the Wakayama Adventure World came wrapped in swaddling towels as they were gently placed in an incubator.

The two were born on August 11th to the nine-year-old giant panda Rauhin. They are the panda's second set of twin babies.

The baby pandas are also notable for having been conceived naturally rather than by artificial insemination.

The babies' father is an 18-year old China-born Giant Panda called Eimei.

Nearly 12 giant pandas have been born at the Adventure World in Wakayama, making it the most productive breeding center outside China for this endangered mammal.

There are an estimated nearly 1,600 pandas still living in the wild, mostly in the mountainous regions of Sichuan. Around 210 of the endangered species are living in captivity.
