Foreign Correspondant - Alexandros Grigoropoulos 2/3 (Australian TV)

This is a fairly impartial recount of the December '08 Greek riots, produced by and aired on ABC's "Foreign Correspondant". What they have failed to mention is that the assasination of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos by the greek police was not a single incident, but the latest link in a long-lasting chain of state-induced violence and brutality. And of course, it was not just "500 anarchists that trashed Athens" (as mentioned by a failed politician-wannabe in the documentary) but tens of thousands of Athenians of all ages and ideologies, that in the most part demonstrated peacefully yet angrily against the corrupt greek authorities.

Το ντοκιμαντέρ αυτό προβλήθηκε τον Ιούνιο του 2009 στην αυστραλιανή τηλεόραση κι αποτελεί μια σχετική αμερόληπτη & αποστασιοποιημένη αφήγηση των γεγονότων του Δεκέμβρη. Βέβαια, τους ξέφυγαν κάποια πράγματα όπως π.χ. οτι η δολοφονία του Αλέξανδρου Γρηγορόπουλου δεν ήταν "μεμονωμένο περιστατικό", ενώ και οι αναφορές του Χρυσοχοΐδη σε "500 αναρχικούς που έκαψαν την πόλη" αξίζει να κρατηθούν και να προβληθούν στις επόμενες εκλογές, για να μην ξεχνάμε με τι ανθρώπους έχουμε να κάνουμε.

Ελπίζω ο χώρος των σχολίων να μη γίνει πεδίο χυδαίων αντιπαραθέσεων και από τις δυο πλευρές, γιατί θα αναγκαστώ να τα κλειδώσω, και είναι κρίμα.

Has anyone told you, journalits, that the "periptero" (kiosk) burned down was paid back to the elderly women affected by the anarchists?. That they themselves collected the money (13.000 Euros) all over the country to make up for the mistake of a few?. That the woman thanked them and said that the state she wold not have expected that from the state?.

About terrorism. There are good reasins to suspect that the Greek "intelligence", helped by people from Scotland Yard are orchestating the whole thing. Something similar happened in the 70's with the Brigate Rosse in Italy. Most of the people among the anarchists, anti-authoritarians and student militants disagree with that tactic.
