Bringing Immigration Reform Home

Wednesday, November 18 thousands of people will take part in house parties across the country. In Illinois, more than 50 house parties are being organized. The house parties are open to all who want to participate in a nationwide effort to pass just and humane immigration reform.

During the house parties, thousands of participants across the country, including community members, advocates and media, will dial in to the Families, Freedom, and Faith Call to Action for Immigration Reform to hear US Representatives Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), Nydia Velasquez (D-NY) and Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) speak about next steps to win a progressive immigration reform and will give details of an upcoming progressive bill that Rep. Gutierrez will introduce in a few weeks.

Ive been waiting in line since I was a year old in 1978. MY mom, dad, brother, grandparents all earned citizenship the hard way. Due however to red tape I turned 21 before all the paper work went through and thus had to wait. I have had to live alone for the past nine years.

Red tape and politics has caused people like me who play by the rules to suffer immensely.
