WATCH VIDEO IN HIGH QUALITY!!! September 24, 1972. Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath light up the scoreboard in a classic game. Namath passes for almost 500 yards and six touchdown passes. Unitas passes for over 370 yards. SIdenote: This was the first Colt game I can remember watching on television. Final Score, Jets 44, Colts 34

The rematch a few weeks later was exciting as well. Joe Namath has a Hail Mary pass answered in the closing seconds. Marty Domres tries the same and is successful as well, only that the Domres's completion came up two yards short of the endzone as the clock ran out. Final Score Jets 24, Colts 20

Namath wasn't through having "shoot-outs" with Colt quarterbacks. In 1974, Bert Jones and Joe Namath went toe to toe in a 45-38 Jets victory in Baltimore. Highlights of that game are also in my collection of videos (1974-week 14).

Note: Retired players, please contact your union about making available for purchase ($20-$30) the original broadcasts of games from this era. The revenue from the sales of the games from your era could be used for your pensions and medical issues.

  • Chuck Thompson was a brilliant football announcer, smooth as silk. I enjoyed his play by play better than anyone in his era.

  • @Mystic0157 And what do we have today? Half literate bullshit and half-second clips of action. I hate what the MTV generation has done to sports films like this.

  • @Blankfrackqueer

Damm!! After reading this post, I think I'm going bald !!

  • At 1:56...why bother. No one catches Riggins from behind.

  • @carltonccc Calm the fuck down, it's a game. I doubt either one of them cared that much.

  • 3:39 - 3:41 0_0

  • why u hatin like a bitch carltonccc?

  • And if you like men in fur coats so much, CSCtalent, move to San Francisco. You'll feel right at home. In fact, bring Rex Ryan with you.

  • It is ridiculous to compare Namath to Unitas! New York retards will utter the most absurd statements; apparently they can't help themselves. Namath holds no records precisely because he is a one-hit wonder: Super Bowl III. (Wish Unitas had started THAT ONE!) Unitas was not only the greatest, he was a MAN. Namath? Whatever. Unitas was in his prime in the 50's and still better than Namath in the 70's. Hell, he's probably better in the grave than Namath ever was alive.

  • @seka1986 Im not saying that the Jets are bad, I just really like the Baltimore Colts. Joe Namath was pretty good.

  • @CSCtalent LOL, SHOULD'VE BUT THEY DIDN'T...END OF STORY, JETS WIN.

  • @deepcosmiclove: I agree. Namath didn't have the 1978 rule changes to take advantage of like Joe Montana did. No QB benefitted more from those changes. And, I know that Montana won more SB's than Namath, but the 68 Colts were better than any team the 80's Niners teams beat in the Super Bowls.
