Teresa was 9 when she won a Nation-wide singing competition in Taiwan. At 16, she sang the theme song for the first Taiwanese TV series ever made. Her recording career was already blossoming in Taiwan when she went over to Hong Kong and performed, winning the hearts of everyone and a contract with Life Records. From then on, she became the recording star of many Movie sound tracks and there is not one home in the Chinese speaking community which does not own at least one record or cassette of hers.
At 20, she left all that to seek new horizons in Japan, ending up being the superstar that she is, well-known throughout the world, with records in Mandarin, Cantonese, Min-Nan, Japanese, English and even Indonesian, winning countless awards and accolades.
This is the first song I ever heard her sing when she joined Life Records, visited Malaysia for concerts to promote her records and this was broadcast on Malaysian TV and radio. It is also the first vinyl record I ever bought. When she joined Polygram Records in Japan, she and Sam Hui were the biggest stars the company ever had.
She passed away in Thailand in 1995, while writing songs and preparing to cut an album. This 8th of May, would be the 15th anniversary of that fateful day. The beginning of the video clip shows Teresa with her only younger brother, Deng Chang Xi. The end of the clip shows Teresa's 2nd elder brother with a wax sculpture of hers at Madam Tussaud's, Hong Kong.
A sweet song by Teresa. Thanks for sharing again :) - mbf
