Senator Susan Collins of Maine and Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen participated in an awards ceremony for Coast Guard personnel in Southwest Harbor that were part of the Acadia surf rescues
The weather up there in Maine looked a tad bit chilly and windy, but I noticed that many of those in the crowd sported short sleeved shirts. As for the Coast Guard, they got my respect and even though they don't make as big a news story as the other services, they do their big time effort and mission in protecting our shores and projecting U.S. military forces for the good of the world. As an Air Force retiree, I give kudos and best wishes to the Coast Guard and to Senator Collins.
