Under the Taliban, Afghanistan was producing nearly 80% of all the world's heroin and opium. In July 2000, Mullah Omar ordered an immediate halt to opium cultivation.

Now, amid the chaos on the Afghan--Pakistan frontier, the Taliban have revoked the ban. "One of the greatest fears of the moment is that the Taliban, in order to obtain ready cash will try to sell as much of the 23 billion pound stockpile as possible," comments Dr Maley, South Asia Security specialist. However, it is Iran who faces the greatest threat from the increased drug trafficking. "Last year, 170 soldiers were killed during shoot outs with traffickers," observes Antonio Mazzitelli (UN drug control in Iran). The Taliban are happy to fuel the drug trade because they claim it only harmed the decadent west. But on the streets of Iran there are 2 million addicts with Afghan heroin coursing through their veins.

Why do the Taliban not distinguish themselves from civilians as all other freedom fighters, why do they cower to the mountains when the Humvee's roll in then come back when they are gone and force harsh punishment on innocent afghan's, i have no respect for the Taliban not because they label them terrorist but because they do not fight for the people, and the will of God is in the best interest of the people not in causing death but giving thanks, to love is the only way to heaven.

first of al qaeda doesnt exists,not a regime it was a name made up one day after 9/11 for bin laden and his attack network,so it theoreticly exixts,but its basicly just bin laden,and hes gone. 2ND,the opium trade doesnt just find the taliban,it funds americas economy,it keeps wallstreet afloat so without heroin hitting americas streets among other drugs wallstreet would fall apart. yes thats rite,america is in afghanistan for heroin. check out:THE LAST WHITE HOPE

did you here any mention of wallstreet and cia drug smuggling,what about the fact the attacks were rite in time to plant the november crops. What about the fact afghanistan was straving to death,and not reaping these bennfits off surging heroin prices,it was trafickers the taliban didnt catch,and the northern aliance,and shopkeepers making the heroin profits.

they try and blame it all on the taliban,it needs to simply be understood as one facts,the taliban erdaicated the opium,it wasnt coming back,inless the west went to war with afghanistan,its propoganda,people are learning about the drug trade,this is lies to sell it off another way. i mean iran sells the taliban weapons from their heroin profits.this is all covert cia controlled,for wallstreet,the afghan heroin problem is america end of story.

I cant believe how little the people who made this documentary know, they try to justify what they are saying with silly scenarios, twisted facts and a few lies here and there. I think their main problem is not being able to distinguish between who is Taliban and who isn't, and by just calling everyone with a turban and beard in Afghanistan Taliban they can get away with sensationalist headlines about drugs, guns, and murder all in one for their own benefit. This is all basically propaganda.
