Dalotel: Hey, I was around in '66... Hullaballoo, AM top 40 radio... until that fall everything but Bonanza was in B&W (and almost no one had a color TV anyhow)...coincidentally, cars became really interesting in Sept. '66 with the Camaro/Firebird, Porsche dumped the 356... Mustangs got way cooler... the '67 VW was the best bug ever... Studebaker finally died off... the first Datsuns and Toyotas washed ashore enough to be noticed... still we had Vietnam and DDT...
@Sykora171 These are probably 1 year old former rental cars. Lowest priced car was the AMC Rambler at $1795. Mustang or the VW Beetle, $2395, a Cadillac was $5400. Most cars had front drum brakes and were weak for their weight.
That wagon could come with a 390, in case you wanted to tow a boat and not give up acceleration on the highway.
@Jbacks57 Everyone had a job. Anyone could get another one in a few days especially if it was in electronics. Even at $6k, the cars weren't hard on the wallet, and all had a lower cost of operation with fuel being 25 cents a gallon.
1966, things were made in USA, houses went up in value, food was healthier and didn't need organic written on the package, BUT we killed a lot of our soldiers throwing them in Vietnam, so the insane government was already in play. 45 years later, looks what they've done to our country.
Ha, ha, ha...this was great...much better than today, when at the simplest hint of a nipple, f word, navel, etc. etc. everyone starts making a fuss...
