The fact that he is a racist seems secondary to the fact that he is such a die-hard supporter of the far right's evangelical agenda. If those are the priorities of Virginia Republicans, I'm really worried.
Religion isn't a bad thing by any means, but when it clouds the eyes of the voters, it becomes a problem. A Moderate Republican proven to be a racist would've been crushed, but Allen held on because of that one little fact . . .
