The effort to have "Science" dictate a morality and path forward on climate change has been "incredibly divisive," says Daniel Sarewitz, Professor of Science and Society and Director of the Consortium for Science, Policy, and Outcomes at Arizona State University. In contrast, approaching climate change as a technology challenge has very broad appeal, offering a pro-growth path to address the climate threat. Until technology's potential is taken seriously as part of the core of the climate change agenda, we're not going to be able to make significant progress, Sarewitz argues. Furthermore, this technology-led path can simultaneously address climate change and pressing energy equity needs in emerging economies, something a science-led path to climate was never capable of.
