After finding a free supply to as many gas bottles as I can get my hands on I decided to use them as a way into learning to weld. At the time I was borrowing a mig but after that no longer became available I got myself a little arc an am hoping that will do the job.
This is the explanation as to what they are all intended to become. To get the tops off these things I first needed to take off the fence from around the valve using a cutting disc on the angle grinder then I borrowed a pair of stillsons to yanch off the valve, after which I filled the bottles with water for a day or two as there is still loads of residual gass inside. If you want to know more please ask.
the gas inside is quite valuable. We used to cook with one of these bottles connected to our stove, when we had the improvised kitchen with no gas tap. Each refilled bottle did cost £100+

you have got to say where you get all those bottles from for free

Thanks for letting us know how to drain all the gas, not many people want to tell you if you know what I mean. Make sure you remove all the paint if your welding on the outside surface: the fumes can give you all sorts of trouble. 6013's are good general rods (cheap and cheerful). All the best. PAT
