This is so true. I also blew 20K (along with my prior career) to get my BSN. “You will be able to write your own ticket and walk into any specialty”. RN instructors said it up until I graduated 5/2010. Of my class of over 100 about 25 have jobs. The rest of us are now stale grads and can kiss our RN future goodbye. What a fucking waste. Fuck Nursing, I now hate it completely. Can't believe I put up with all that shit durnig RN school for nothing--I want my money back. RN school is my only REGRET

LOL...oh geesh! THis is EXACTLY what they tell us in nursing school! O Lord.....LOL... I can't stop laughing. I had so many dreams about nursing, thought I would have a job by now, 8 months after graduating, still no full time position.

It's true, the nursing shortage is not a shortage of new nurses. You have to have experience.

I know a guy here in Las Vegas (very high unemployment) who got his Associate's degree in nursing, passed the license exam, and within 2 weeks, with no experience, got a job paying $32 per hour.

This is true for Europe too..I am a new grad from Copenhagen. There are no jobs..

If you go for a BSN program, student loans can easily add up to over 25k, and at private schools it will cost almost double that.

Before I got my RN, I was an LPN. Back in 2006, for months before I graduated, we had recruiters coming to our school EVERY WEEK if not more often, giving us luncheons, swag from their company, promising sign-on bonuses and good money. Hell, LPN's were being offered $5,000+ sign-on bonuses and RN's were being offered $10,000+! When I finally got my RN in January of this year, it took me 3 months to find an RN job, and that was with FIVE YEARS of nursing experience! Nursing shortage my ass!!!

lol true but if you do try hard enough you can find a job ,just ask me im a 25 year old male rn who found a job 3 months after getting his licence, it felt like a life time though , happy now though 8 months later
