Yuri Kochiyama is a Japanese American Human Rights advocate and political activist, Yuri Kochiyama has campaigned on issues of social justice from the rights of international political prisoners, nuclear disarmament, and redress for Japanese American interned during World War II and redress for African Americans. During the civil rights movement of the 1960s, she became a close friend of Malcolm X and was by his side when he was assassinated in 1965. Melissa Woo, January Liddell, Mircle and I sat down to talk to Yuri at her residence. This was taken Summer of 2006.

@trickshot23 the Blue scholars, a collaboration between two hip hop artists, one Filipino and one American, use their musicianship as an agent to spread messages about the working class. They pay tribute to the teachings of Yuri in several songs including Yuri Kochiyama, Talk Story, Life and Debt, etc. The two are extremely influential, and successful, in regards to teaching a young generation why we must fight as well as promoting exposure to monumental figures such as Yuri.

She says Asians were racist against blacks. White people instill a racism within one ethnic group to discriminate against another ethnic group. If the minorities hate on each other, they can't unite and rise against the majority (white people), who have been and will remain the superiors.
