This is all about a 5 HP single-phase Dayton Farm-Duty Motor. These are some of the toughest, best built electric motors on earth. They are non-ventilated so that varmints can not get inside. These motors live in barns, outdoors, and in places that would destroy a lesser motor in short time.

This is a collection of still pictures followed by a video. The pictures are showing the condition of this motor which I found in a field near a feed mill. It was abandoned and rusting into the ground. The previous owner told me it would never run again, he took it to a motor shop and they sait it was shot and sold him a new one. Then after that it sat in the field for years, slowly sinking into the mud.

I've seen several videos where people take a motor, which runs, and intentionally burn it out and video the smoke and sparks. I don't beleive in this kind of destruction. Instead I'm going the other way and taking a scrapped motor and making it useful again.

The only thing left to change to make th motor completely repaired is a new set of bearings. This I will get soon!
