**It's been way too long since an update & I'm soo sorry but I've just been so busy with school. as I've said before, I'm ending this story at 30 chapters. so only two more =\ But I have lots of other ideas for future stories so I'll be sure to let you all know when I start writing again. Chapter 28 - My Beautiful Rescue - A Jonas Brothers Story

(Kayla's Point of View)

"Kayla... you don't understand how excited I am for tomorrow. I am so nervous though. Like... it'll just be me, and Kevin. One on one. At Starbucks," Brooke exclaimed over the phone.

"You'll be fine. Just be yourself... Kevin is bound to fall in love with you," I replied, playing with my hair as I looked in the mirror on my bedroom wall. "I'll talk to you later," I said as my phone began to vibrate in my hand. "I think Nick is trying to call me."

"Ooh la la," Brooke laughed. "Alright, bye!" I pressed send to hear Nick's voice on the line.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Kayla," Nick began. "Umm... are you home?"

I paused. "Yeah... why?"

"Be ready in 15 minutes," he instructed me. I wrinkled my eyebrows in confusion.

"Okay?" He laughed and hung up, his voice echoing in my mind. Fifteen minutes? That's all he was giving me? I made a mad dash for my closet, throwing out pieces of clothing onto my bed to figure out what I was going to wear. By the time I was done with my hair, makeup, and outfit, my bedroom looked like a bomb had hit it.

Somehow I managed to look somewhat presentable, just in time as Nick rang my doorbell exactly fifteen minutes later.

"You look beautiful," Nick whispered as I walked out of my house and into a black truck. I thanked him and tried to hide my bright red cheeks.

"Where are we going?" I questioned as Big Rob began to drive us somewhere that I didn't know.

"The park," Nick responded promptly.

"For what?" I asked curiously. Nick turned to his right and lifted up a huge basket that was beside him, that I hadn't noticed before. "A picnic?" I gaped at him in disbelief. He smiled and nodded. Could he get any more romantic?

Soon enough, we had arrived and found our way to a large grassy area surrounded by a few trees. Thankfully, the park was fairly empty, which was odd since the sun was shining and the air was warm.

Nick opened the basket and took out a blanket, lying it down on the green grass and advising me to sit down. He took out two plates and cups, along with sandwiches, chips, and a bottle of Diet Coke.

"I missed you," he stated after he had finally sat down. "That's the only thing that sucks about being on the road all the time... not seeing your girlfriend for weeks."

"I missed you, too," I replied, smiling and taking a bite out of my sandwich. I wasn't exactly the neatest eater, as all of a sudden the lettuce dropped into a heap on my plate. I looked up to see Nick watching me, chuckling silently. "What?"

"You look so cute when you eat," he said, slightly blushing.

I laughed nervously. "When I eat?" I continued to giggle.

"Well... yeah, I guess."

"Whatever you say, Nicholas." He smiled, causing my smile to become even wider.

After a while we finished our lunch, which took a while since every time I tried to take a bite out of my sandwich, I'd look up to see Nick gazing at me, causing me to burst out laughing. We packed up the blanket and threw away our trash, and began to walk to a spot where we could be picked up.

I felt a hand trying to grasp mine and took Nick's hand in mine, smiling shyly as we continued walking. Big Rob arrived swiftly and drove me back to my house, even though all I wanted to do was spend more time with Nick.

Nick guided me out of the car and walked me to my door, stopping to say goodbye.

"I had fun! Thanks for everything," I stated cheerfully.

"I'll text you or call you tomorrow," he said as he pulled me into a hug. "I love you," he mumbled in my ear. I pulled away with wide eyes and grinned.

"Love you too," I responded in shock as Nick turned around and walked back to the truck.

I quickly walked into my house and sat down on the nearest piece of furniture I could find. My heart was about to burst out of my chest and my knees were trembling. Nick Jonas...loved...me?
