Another estes rocket flying on an E9-6 motor. I lost this one for 3 months (with hours of searching in between) when found it had minor water damage but was repaired back to new :)

  • ink13jr: any model rocket that takes D engines will take E size engines if they are secured in the mounting hole well enough ;-)

  • PLEASE RESPOND QUICKLY!

ok What is the easiest way of lighting of one of these rocket engines? (without the actual electric ignitor)

  • *grin* u know the green fuse you get with some fireworks? that stuff works best if you can get it.

  • dude did you happen to see those trees right there in front??

  • yeah - those trees were not as close as the vid shows thank god :-)

  • Is that a blue ninja

  • I knew that sucker was gone before you pressed the button. Isn't there a field near you, or do you like the challenge of threading the needle?

  • i ment steel wool i had a typo, after you wrap the steel wool around the wires and solder them get some pyrodex use in mussel louders, 50 cal, and put a little water on it till it desolves make a paste out of it then dip your fuse in that and alow to dry one or two hours, this makes great fuses, the pyrodex drys rock hard and smooth, and burns great, just dont bang on pyrodex it can be unstable, once wet its pritty safe, happy rocketry, David*

  • the easyest way to fire off a rocket is with cannon fuse, i think some call it visco fuse use 1/8th inch fuse, you can buy it at must gun shops, if your country doesent have a gun shop as i know many don't you can use two 9 volt batterys or four AA's or a car or lawn mower battery,it only takes 4.6 volts to ignite a estes wire fuse, ive found if you like electric fuses get some #3 stell wool course, and pull a bit out a string of it and wrap it around two wires and solder them, David*

  • Don't use toilet paper like I did for wadding. It burnt my chute and caught a field on fire LOL

  • I always buy the cheap rockets and then modify them. In one, if my math is right my rocket that was only 5 in long went 200 fps! 5 more of those and I would have broken the sound barrier!!!!

  • I had a 2 stage rocket on C motors. During flight, one of the fins broke off and it shot into the woods never to be seen again.

  • @JKTCGMV13 The A8-3 is the "First Flight" motor.

  • Wow..........those "E" engines are pretty powerful. I never used E's before. Where was it lost ? In a tree ?

  • Crazy you lost it for 3 months. The E9-6 motor doesn't really go much higher than the C6-5, although your rocket looks like a heavy log which I guess is what the E's are for. I love these damn things!
