Dionne Warwick sings and Burt Bacharach plays (also composer) "What the World needs now" and "Alfie" in a clip from the 60s. The quality of the audio is not very good, but even so, I think this clip deserves a chance to be seen and heard.....

Where did this come from? Was it a TV special. I noticed she left one verse off of Alfie. That's my favorite song that she sings. She does that way better than even legend, Barbra Streisand. It's Dionne's song and she's told the story many times, that it was recorded by many and she was the only one who had a hit on it. Dionne is a legend. Too bad she smoked, but she is on key now and touring the world. She is just in a much lower key.
After that climax, that was just a gorgeous moment... it makes me cry every time... like almost a moment arises where it sounds like pure heartbreak... I imagine someone saying goodbye to someone and not wanting to and crying!
true . i'm African-American but i was blessed that I didn't get exposed to the racial conflicks of the 60's. Probably because i was born in the late 60's.
Thats good. Its pretty sad what happened then. Who would have thought back then that in less than 60 years they would have an African American president. Go figure.
I wouldn't have believed it even 10 years ago if someone had told me it would happen. The American view of this country has come a LONG way from the turmoil and racism of the 50's and 60's. Blacks,Whites,Indians,Asians -- virtually all races are looking past color and creed and embracing unity. That's what the world needs. A country that fights against itself will always go under. That's what happened to Sadaam Hussein. Of course, you still have the resistant ones still lurking around. Pity!
