  • @ NUREKPODWODNY Again you refer to a teaching situation and not an actual dive. Why would you be doing a faulty valve drill without a flow check to verify that all valves are open. And why would you want to practice purge testing a backup reg and build the muscle memory of a slower drill. I can agree that a purge test at the start of B5 may be sensible when teaching a class but it is uneccessary in form practice. If you wish to continue this discussion please email me using brian (at) gue.com

  • You are making the same mistake as I do - you switch to the secondary regulator not knowing if this works at all. First check it by pressing by-pass...

  • @NUREKPODWODNY

This is not a mistake but rather a replication of what is done in real life. A backup reg is switched to in an emergency and has been tested to be functioning before the dive as part of GUE EDGE. It is not necessary in real life to waste time testing a backup reg before it is used in an emergency situation. This sequence is the same as completed by Jarrod in the single tank version of Basic 5 video of the GUE fundamentals class.

  • the hand signals would be more effective if the guy gave them to one side, so they show as a sillouette against the blue/green, rather than black gloves against black wet/dry suit background!!

THAT should be the FIRST lesson!!!!

  • @cheltcanary

Good point in an instructional video, not so when diving... but point taken. I'll wear different coloured gloves in my next vid.

I believe the standards are going to change soon. Nevertheless the sec reg may have been cut off by doing faulty V-drill before B5. Better safe than sorry...

  • A perfect skill demonstration, but the illumination suck´s.

  • Well done! Clean and crisp. It is kinda hard to see the hand signals being given though.

  • great stuff guys !!

hope to get over there some time

    wooferbitch

  • Nice job... but next time, try gloves that aren't black so it's easier to see!
