Mushroom Kingdom II - History Behind Super Smash Bros. Melee

An incorrect stage title, an interesting history of games that were and weren't localized, a game featuring mascots (that look like stereotypical Arabs) of a TV station's event festival for promotional purposes, sexually confused bosses and waterfalls that could ruin your eyes if you stare at them too long. Could it get any more ridiculous?

And as I said in the video, nearly everything in Super Mario Bros. 2 should look exactly as it does in Doki Doki Panic. The reason it doesn't in this video is because I could not find an NES/Famicom emulator that could record in .avi format AND run Famicom Disk System ROMs properly. (My usual emulator that can record .avis would run Doki Doki Panic, but wouldn't let me switch floppy disk sides to play the game beyond the title screen, if you're familiar with .fds ROMs) Consequently, I had to play Doki Doki Panic with an emulator that would switch sides, but play it in full screen with my video card's S-video output routed into my capture device. (My back sound card's output was routed into my front sound card's input.) I had to do some cropping and resizing of the video to get rid of the Start Menu, etc. and to make the video look as if I had actually recorded it from a real Famicom Disk System. Because of the resizing and cropping, the video is not as crisp as it would be recording straight from an emulator. Additionally, because I had to run Doki Doki Panic in a different emulator, the colors of some things in Super Mario Bros. 2 are different from what they are in Doki Doki Panic. Under normal circumstances (if both games were ran in the same emulator or if somebody actually had a Super Mario Bros. 2 [or USA] cartridge along with a Famicom Disk System and the Doki Doki Panic floppy disk), the colors would be exactly the same, but different emulators interpret ROM data differently. :/

Doki Doki Panic will always be SMB 2 for me. It is still a great Mario game :)

@nimpe88 Mario Bros. 2 was released in Japan as "Super Mario Bros. USA". I have it for famicom :)

So yeah, japan got the same game as us too
