I had a lot of requests for this lightweight Linux distro based on Ubuntu 11.10. It uses the XFCE interface. Great for older computers or modern machines. If you do not like Unity or Gnome 3, check this one out!

  • @ipodpunker 1. open CCSM 2. go to General options 3. open desktop size tab 4. set horizontal virtual size to 4 (or however many desktops you want)

  • They may have spent a lot of time making this but only about 5 mins making the installer as it screwed up my XP so that I could no longer boot into it. I nuked it and moved to Mint 10 which installed well and didn't screw my xp.

  • @poojkhgf Linux Mint 10 was my first choice when I switched to Linux.

  • @doubleomc The capability to video chat shouldn't be affected by Desktop Environment. However, to answer your question, yes skype should run fine on Xubuntu because I've tried before and it worked for me.

  • @LinuxSpatry LOL i'm still using Linux Mint 10. I see no reason to upgrade it or changed it, because it's totaly bugless and tweaked by me over the years.

  • @doubleomc Welcome to Linux!

  • @LinuxSpatry Thank you sir. Im switching over to linux and being able to chat long distances with my son on skype or the like is a big selling point for me.

  • @doubleomc I ran skype on my ubuntu based distro and it ran fine.... it should work well with xubuntu.

  • Have you ran google chat or skype on xubuntu? How does it do?
