The Furnace Creek Inn is one of aviations best kept secrets. Who would have guessed the Inn serves a Newport Beach type brunch the middle of Death Valley? For $25 each you sit in a dining room over looking Dead Water and have a wonderful meal. I've never stayed at the Inn but the hotel looks wonderful. The Inn is open middle or October though Mother's Day. I've never been to Brunch when reservations were not required.

Below the Inn is a small town which has a place or two to eat and some gift shops. There is also a Death Valley museum and a golf course there. This area is open year round.

  • I feel bad for that Piper Arrow!

  • I worked in DeVa 82-84 and flew out of this small airport, and did a little scenic flight with my boss, and the local barber who flew in once a week from Lone Pine.

Death Valley winds often blow stridently, and cross-winds are often quite tricky at this airport.

I recall that we had a small home-built plane get blown sideways and ended up in the palm trees. If my memory serves me, the pilot and passenger both suffered broken legs.

  • you done good.

  • We spent 8 days exploring the valley its awesome stayed one night at stovepipe wells boiling hot even at night
