We recorded a demo of the hot new Mirasol displays that Qualcomm was showing at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. They look like color electronic-ink, but work on totally different technology and will be in consumer devices by year end. More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/gallery.jsp?Id=8783

  • I want this video on my Trax CU575 phone.

  • is it possible to have a back light on the mirasol screen? So that it gives viewers to option to use background light and also have it look like traditional lcd screen

  • @has307 Nope. You're looking at the future technology the Kindle will be using. Amazon and Mirasol are working together. Hopefully we will see it by X-Mas 2012.

  • This video is popular on Somalia

  • @MegaSnork You wish.

  • This is awesome. From the user's point of view it would behave very much like E Ink, although the underlying technology is totally different. But I'm sceptical that colour ebook readers will be out 3Q 2011, new technology is always slower than they say it's going to be...if you look at the manufacturer's website the only real products with this technology are tiny, monochrome displays so far.

  • @MegaSnork I don't think it was intended for laptop or monitor. we have LCD and OLED for that. This is to be an interactive electronic paper or E-paper. you suppose to view it in a bright places, just like a normal paper.

  • @beingose4 It's E-paper, not a monitor. it's suppose to act like paper, whcih means no backlight. if you want a monitor, get yourself an ipad.

  • Looks great. But I thinkt it's worth waiting to see this in actual devices to see how much it will cost and what drawbacks there are.

  • targeting fall 2010? I haven't seen it yet....
