  • you know that back in the days it was gnu/llinux cause it was the gnu system with a linux kernel, but my question is. Is linux still running with the same old gnu system or does it have it's own system?

  • @devvilboyy676767 There are still a lot of GNU utilities and software in modern Linux distributions. But there's much more non-GNU. Really, these days, calling it GNU/Linux comes down to a personal choice.

  • @CajunTechie Can we get Steam and all the games running on ubuntu?

  • @AiDz0r No. Most games are written for Windows or Mac. Some will indeed run on Linux and a few Steam games definitely will. But the majority of commercial games available will not run on Linux at this time.

  • i love ubuntu one problem. how do i install java can your send me pm with a link on how to install it or make a video please

  • Sure, PM on the way!

  • Just installed Ubuntu 11.10 on an older (2004) HP laptop that was collecting dust in my garage. Right out of the box...BANG! Like it was just unwrapped! My only question is this: My full screen video is very choppy. I only have 512mb of RAM and ATI 32mb Mobility Radeon 9200 card. Will upgrading one of the 256mb sticks with a 1Gb stick solve this? Or is the 32mb on the Radeon destined to always choke on it? No proprietary drivers can be found for the card, I looked. Thanks, great video!

  • @gameboykid11 Just create a partition of your hdd and install it onto the new, empty one.

  • Hey dude, just wanted to say, in all seriousness (Im not being a dick) but you've got a really nice mustache, it really REALLY suits you, Id grow one if I were man enough.

  • Linux Mint... 9

  • @powermaks You are correct in a sense. the Linux Kernel was spawned from Unix. But it was so drastically changed that it is a completely different. but never the less thank God for Linus Torvald for making it possible !

  • Zorin / Ubuntu is FN amazing ! This one is the easiest transition for windows users. If You have not tried it You need to.

  • @gameboykid11 wubi install, bitch, its good

  • @powermaks Before you comment anything, please finish school first. Linux is home version of Unix.

  • @gameboykid11 YES YOU CAN. It's called Dual-Boot. Go to ubuntu(dot)com. Go to Downloads, and download it direct OR Go to Alternative Downloads Scroll down Search for: UBUNTU 11.10 desktop i386.iso torrent (if you have a 32-bit processor), or desktop amd-64 (if 64-bit processor). Or you can try Wubi. Windows installer for UBUNTU. It will install it in your Windows but won't replace it. I suggest that iso torrent, cause it's the simplest way, at least for me. kajcha93@live.com email if need help.
