+1 defiantly something i have been waiting for, for a long while juggling multiple control surfaces to basically get this effect has been a pain but educational

Indeed an advance for the better (even if my bank account may think otherwise ;p)
Maybe a suggestion for the next controller release:
Why not make those buttons with oleds which can be programmed to show an example of what you are working on (like, small symbols?)
Keep up the great work, Ableton!

Those buttons are very expensive at around $35 a piece. You'd be spending $1400 alone on just the buttons. Although it sounds like a good idea, I'd rather not spend $2000 on a midi controller, and I don't think many others would either. If the technology for it gets cheaper then I could see it being practical, but for now it seems like it would break the bank for most people.
