Speakers: Tristan Reader, Co Director, and Karen Blaine, Program Coordinator, Tohono O'odham Community Action (TOCA). Working with partners ranging form Indian Health Service and local schools to families and communities the TOCA works to redevelop a sustainable tribal food system that stimulates physical wellness, cultural revitalization and community development. Projects range from. TOCA has brought together community members, tribal leaders and local organizations/stakeholders to incorporates the use of healthy native foods in the everyday life of the Nation. TOCA works to revitalize the cultural traditions of the Tohono O'odham recognizing that keeping these traditions vital and alive is an essential part of cultural survival. In recent years, these activities have included the Rain Ceremony Revitalization, Traditional Singing and Dance Group
