It is my miniscule tribute to the goddess of learning, music and all creative arts: Ma Saraswati. Devi Saraswati is called the Mother of the Vedas and the repository of Brahma's creative intelligence. Mata Saraswati is also called Vak Devi, the goddess of speech. Dressed in white, Maa Saraswati holds a mala and a palmleaf scroll, indicating knowledge. The Matha usually rides a swan and sometimes a peacock, while playing music on a veena. People often write her name with variant spelling... Sarasvati, Saraswathi, Sarasvathi, Sarasvathy, Saraswaty, Saraswathy, Sarasvathy. She also goes by the name of Sharada (Sharda, Sharde, Sharade).
The mantra goes like this...
Roman script:
Yaa Kundendu tushaara haara-dhavalaa,
Yaa shubhra-vastra'avritha
Yaa veena-vara-danda-manditakara,
Yaa shwetha padma'asana
Yaa brahma'achyutha shankara prabhritibhir Devai-sadaa Vanditha
Saa Maam Paatu Saraswati Bhagavatee Nihshesha jaadyaa-pahaa.
Sanskrit (Sanskrut, Samskrit, Samskrut) /
Hindi /
English Translation:
She, who is as fair as the Kunda flower,the moon, and a garland of Tushar flowers;
She, whose hands are adorned by the excellent veena, and whose seat is the pure white lotus;
She, who is constantly praised and glorified by Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and other divinities;
O Mother Goddess, remove my mental inertia!
Since Saraswati Vandana is much shorter than 9 minutes, it has been repeated. This has been done in order to be able to see a lot of Mata's images, while listening to the Vandana. The images include pictures of paintings as well as stone, metal, calendar and other art.
