I LOVED old school Thexder! I wish there was a version for 360!

YOU FAT FOCK!!!!!!!
why did you name it first play
-
hey look ma ~ it stucks ~

Roland was pretty pricey though... There's also the Gravis Ultrasound and Soundblaster AWE32, but Roland was still one of the best MIDI devices one could ever own for their IBM PC...
-
Is this on Xbox Live Arcade?
-
Yeah, the Roland made my Sound Blaster Pro sound terrible. :P

I was supprised to find out they remade the game. I remembered having it on the tandy in the late 1980's. Fire hawk was also a good sequil, and I think it would be cool if they come out with a remake of it as well.

I had the Apple IIGS version myself and was in awe when I saw this for PS3 (and no it is not on XBLA).
Movement does NOT drain energy, only firing and using the shield does. Also, in case you didn't know, completing a level without using the shield gets you an additional 20% enmax increase and you also get 100% energy restored. In the IIGS version, using the shield ONCE forfeits the latter for the rest of the game and it's actually possible to beat the game without using it.

I knew about the going without shields thing. Also, for movement draining energy, I was mistaken, the sequel, Firehawk, which I played more, has you losing energy from movement.
This was a first play, so I was playing Thexder for the first time in over 15 years.
