The framerate in TDU2 drops very much when I set up the steer left (or right) command on the wheel. If I set any command on the wheel for steering left or right (any button or any wheel or pedal movement), the framerate drops from 30 to 10. Sometimes it even drops even lower and i have to restart the game, because the waiting time for the menu to open is too long.

The graphs on the left show the following:
1) GPU temperature in °C
2) Framerate in FPS
3) CPU Core 0 usage in %
4) CPU Core 1 usage in %
5) HDD temperature in °C
6) CPU Core 0 / Core 2 temperature in °C

Notice how both the CPU usage and the FPS drop when I set the steering command on the steering wheel and reverts back to normal when I set it back to the keyboard binding.

Using Windows 7 with all the latest graphic card drivers and updates, Thrustmaster drivers from 2007 for Vista SP1 (the wheel works fine in all other driving games on my pc, like TDU1 or NFS Shift).

My specs are:
- Biostar A770 A2G+ motherboard
- AMD Athlon X2 6000+
- 4 GB RAM (Mushkin XP Series, 800 MHz)
- Point of VIew Nvidia 9800gt 1GB GDDR3

  • Can you use the ferrari wheel without doing the gear changes manually

  • @THEROBSWORLD I think so, but i'm not 100% sure. I think that automatic gear shifting is always an option, regardless of the input method.

  • I have the Thrustmaster Force Feedback Ferrari Wheel, is this the same as yours? If so, Where did you get the drivers compatible with Windows 7 and does it work with TDU2?

  • @egcgensergi I think that Guillemot was acquired by Thrustmaster and that Thrustmaster continued to produce the wheel, only under their name. The driver that I use is available on Thrustmaster's support site

As you can see, it doesn't work correctly on TDU2 because the FPS drops after I bind the steer left and right controls to the wheel. A workaround is possible with PPJoy, but you loose force feedback.

  • @jerko1324 if you press alt+enter you can play in full sreen!!

  • @MezzyGezzyFTW Hmm, I had no such problem...

  • also, if you're using windows 7, you will need to alter the bootloader settings to allow windows 7 to use the ppjoy driver. i think that you can read more about that on ppjoy's website.

  • @MezzyGezzyFTW i believe that this is the link you're looking for, although I'm not sure if I followed that exact link or something else, it's been a while. forums.testdriveunlimited2{dot}com/showpost.php?p=327801&postcount=3

  • I think that main problem is that drivers for this wheel are old. Thrustmaster didn't refresh it since 2005. I gave the same wheel and win 7 with sp1 and when I instal drivers and plug in dvice windows show up blue screen and crash... :((

  • @G31S7 unfortunately, that's not the case. i have managed to make it work by following a guide on official TDU2 forums - it involves the use of a tool called PPJoy, which creates a virtual joystick driver, to which I bind the controls from the wheel.

The downside is that I loose the force feedback. I guess I have to wait for an official patch. The developers have said that they will "tackle the wheel control issues" after they solve other major problems.
