At least two of the monsters had to have been inspired by House (again, the American film starring William Katt, not the Obayashi psychedelic film of demented doom, though that movie probably influenced Sam Raimi, Peter Jackson, and other "usual suspects"). The pig-like ghoul thing and the flying skeleton torso are most definately House-inspired. Canbarian looks like Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia. Odd for a supposed villain.

I was just going through my collection of old NES games and thought of this game. The cover art for it was amazing and always made me feel like I was getting away with something by playing such a scary and gory game as a kid *gasp!* Thanks for the LP- great memories!

Thanks for the cool vids of this strange old game! I used to rent it from the local video store in the 80s and enjoyed beating it...but it drove me )(!@)@#@ nuts! There is a trick you can use on Canbarian...jump at him and slash with the knife to wake him up, then you'll land behind him if you use a super jump...then you can just blast him in the rear and he's toast. Also...the laser gun can run out of ammo...which really sucks! Great vids and thanks again for your hard work! :)

You know, this is one of my least favorite NES games, but it looks like once you get some upgrades, it's almost playable.
By the way, do you do this sort of thing professionally? You have a really nice voice for this sort of thing.
